University of Miami head women’s tennis head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews announced July 22, 2025, the hiring of Alexa Noel as assistant coach for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
Alexa Noel begins her coaching career this upcoming season as an assistant coach for the Miami Hurricanes, bringing with her one of the most decorated résumés in collegiate tennis. Noel closed her playing career in 2024 as the NCAA Singles Champion, becoming just the fourth Hurricane to capture an NCAA individual title and the third to do so in singles. That same season, she was recognized as both the ACC Player of the Year and the ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, earned her third ITA All-America honor, and was granted a U.S. Open main draw wildcard. She also became a finalist for the Honda Sport Award, marking the 10th time in program history that a Hurricane earned that distinction.
During her two years at Miami, Noel consistently ranked among the nation’s best, recording more than 60 singles wins and multiple top-10 finishes, highlighted by two victories over the nation’s No. 1 player. She was a CSC Academic All-American, a multi-time All-ACC First Team honoree, and also excelled in doubles play with a 16-4 overall record in 2024, including an eight-match win streak.
Before transferring to Miami, Noel starred at Iowa, where she was named the 2021 Big Ten Player of the Year, Big Ten Freshman of the Year, and an ITA All-American after finishing 24-1 in singles play. Despite an injury-shortened sophomore season, she maintained a top-30 national singles ranking, further solidifying her reputation as one of the premier talents in college tennis.
Her success extends beyond the collegiate level. As a junior, Noel reached as high as No. 4 in the ITF Junior World Rankings, competed in all four Junior Grand Slams, and was the Wimbledon Juniors singles finalist in 2019. She also played in the U.S. Open Juniors doubles main draw and captured multiple international titles, including the 2019 USTA U18 National Championships doubles crown.
With elite experience at every level—from juniors to the pros—combined with her record of academic achievement and leadership on the court, Noel now transitions into coaching, where she will play a vital role in guiding the Hurricanes’ next generation of student-athletes.
