
Five Hurricanes Named ITA Scholar-Athletes
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team earned multiple academic distinctions from the ITA, as announced Monday morning.
For the 12th time in the last 13 years, including the 11th in a row, the Hurricanes received ITA Academic Team distinction. The honor goes to all teams with a combined cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 for the academic year. Miami posted a stellar 3.59 mark in 2024-25, its 11th time in 13 years above 3.5.
Additionally, five Hurricanes received ITA Scholar-Athlete plaudits: Aely Arai, Raquel Gonzalez, Alexa Noel, Jaquelyn Ogunwale and Daria Volosova. The honors goes to student-athletes with at least a 3.5 GPA for the academic year.
A freshman, Arai posted a 3.84 GPA in her International Studies major and was an All-ACC Academic honoree.
Gonzalez, a Global Health Studies major, tallied a 3.67 GPA in her first year at Miami. The transfer also claimed the All-ACC Academic Team recognition.
Noel, a CSC First Team Academic All-American, recorded a 3.58 GPA during her last season at The U in her MSED degree.
In her first year at Miami, Ogunwale is currently majoring in Psychology and notched a 3.63 GPA.
