Eric Erickson named Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Junior left-handed pitcher Eric Erickson has been selected the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, February 21. In his first appearance in over 20 months, Erickson did not allow an earned run in 5 2/3 innings to earn the victory in No. 12 Miami’s season-opening win over Rutgers. After missing the entire 2009 season recovering from Tommy John surgery, Erickson made a triumphant return to the mound on Feb. 19 against the Scarlet Knights, allowing just two hits while striking out six in his first outing since June 16, 2008. Working on a pitch count, Erickson struck out four of the first five batters he faced and held Rutgers to a .111 batting average against him on the night. With the win, Erickson improved his career record to an outstanding 20-5. |
