Welcome to the commencement ticketing page! As the event approaches, we’re excited to help you reserve tickets for your guests. The University of Miami is committed to ensuring a safe and memorable experience, upholding the traditions of commencement at the Watsco Center. Below you will find all information regarding guest tickets. We look forward to celebrating with you and your guests!

Tickets:

All graduates participating in the commencement ceremonies should have received an email with instructions on how to reserve guest tickets. Commencement tickets cannot be accessed via the general Student Athletic Ticket website. Graduates must use their designated ceremony’s unique commencement ceremony ticket link, as noted in the email that graduates should have received.

Please ensure that all mobile tickets are downloaded prior to the ceremony. If you need any assistance, please contact the Hurricanes Ticket Office at 1-800-GO-CANES or hurricanestickets@miami.edu. Available Monday – Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Tickets are not required for graduates, but are required for all guests. Children aged two and under do not require their own ticket. Each graduate can reserve a maximum of six guest tickets. Graduating students participating in commencement do not need a ticket, but they must present their CaneID to attend the ceremony.

On the day of commencement, Thursday, December 12, 2024, the Watsco Center box office will open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to provide support if you have any trouble downloading and/or accessing your mobile ticket(s).

Livestream:

For those graduates and loved ones unable to attend in person, livestreams of all ceremonies will be available.

Guest Information:

Arrival and seating: Doors open one hour prior to the ceremony start time. Guest seating is general admission and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please refrain from saving seats. We kindly ask that all guests are present when selecting seats to ensure fairness for all guests. To secure preferred seating, we recommend that guests arrive early. Accessibility: The Special Needs/VIP Lobby is located to the right of the Watsco Center box office. Guests will be escorted by ushers to the ADA-accessible areas that are reserved for guests in wheelchairs or those with mobility impairments and special needs. Access to the seating areas is via an elevator in our Special Needs/VIP Lobby entrance. Due to space limitations, the number of family members that can be seated in those areas with the special needs guest will be limited. The Watsco Center usher staff includes a qualified ADA aid who may assist in escorting guests with special needs to the seating area.

Bag policy: The Watsco Center has a clear bag policy to increase existing security measures and expedite entry. All clear bags must be 12″ x 6″ x 12″ or smaller. Small clutch purses are permitted, which may not exceed 5.5″ x 8.5″ and can be carried separately or inside an appropriate clear bag. To reduce contact with event staff, guests may keep items such as phones, keys, and wallets in their pockets as they enter through the security mags/metal detectors. Review all venue policies in advance.

Parking and Transportation: 

Parking is complimentary and conveniently located near the Watsco Center and at the Pavia, Levante, and Mahoney-Pearson garages, with shuttle service to the Watsco Center (view map).

No parking passes are required for commencement guests. Parking at Ponce de Leon garage is strictly reserved for patients of The Lennar Foundation Medical Center.

Golf carts and shuttles will be running continuously for guests who cannot walk long distances to and from the Watsco Center from surrounding parking lots. Reservations are not required.

All vehicles will enter via Stanford Drive. Rideshare pick-up and drop-off is located on Stanford Drive in front of the Lowe Art Museum.

We highly recommend arriving early as move-out will occur at the same time as commencement.

2024 Commencement Frequently Asked Questions

Will I need a ticket to attend my graduation ceremony?

Graduating students participating in commencement, do not need a ticket, but must present their CaneID to attend the ceremony.

How do I reserve tickets to attend graduation?

Eligible students had to have applied via the CaneLink Graduation Application or the participation form during the application open period (September 11- October 11, 2024) and indicated that they would be participating in the commencement ceremonies.

Students who applied were emailed information on how to reserve their tickets via their student ticket portal.

How many guests are graduating students allowed to bring?

Students may request a maximum of six (6) guest tickets.

What if I need more tickets?

Students may donate any tickets they will not be using at check-out. Following the last day to apply for graduation, these tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with each registered student having the opportunity to request up to two additional tickets. Reservation information for these additional tickets will be emailed to all students who have registered to participate in commencement.

Will my guests need tickets to attend my commencement ceremony?

Yes, every guest above the age of two needs a ticket. Graduates are responsible for forwarding tickets to their guests.

Are my guest tickets for reserved seats or general admission?

Guest seating is general admission and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

How are my tickets delivered?

All tickets are mobile tickets and will be delivered to each student via their UM email. Graduates are responsible for forwarding tickets to their guests. Each guest must have a ticket. Ticket Transfer will be available on October 21st if you prefer to send your guest tickets to multiple groups.

How do I download my mobile tickets?

Log In to Hurricanes Ticket Office Student Portal on your Mobile Device, Select the event, and add to your digital wallet.

How do I transfer tickets to my guests?

Ticket Transfer will be available on October 21st.

Step 1: Log In to your Students MyAccount.

Step 2: Select your ceremony which you ordered for.

Step 3: Click “Transfer” under the seats you wish to transfer.

Step 4: Type in the mobile phone number of the person you wish to transfer the tickets to.

Step 5: The recipient will receive a link to login or create an account in order to accept the transfer.

Step 6: Once the transfer has been accepted, you will receive an email confirmation that they are ready to enter the Watsco Center!

What if I lose/delete my ticket delivery email?

After the tickets have been emailed on October 21st, if the ticket delivery email can’t be recovered, go to your MyAccount page on your desktop and re-issue the tickets. You can also download or transfer the tickets on your phone within your MyAccount. Video tutorials can be found at https://miamihurricanes.com/tickets/commencement-mobile-tickets/. What happens if I lose my tickets or guests forget theirs on the day of the ceremony?

If you or any of your guests lose or forget your mobile ticket on the day of the ceremony, please visit the Hurricanes Ticket Office at the main entrance. Please have your C# & photo ID ready.

Can digital tickets be downloaded on a computer or printed out?

No. All tickets must be downloaded to an Apple or Android smartphone and displayed on that device for entry. Mobile delivery tickets that are printed out will not be able to be used for entry. Screenshots are not permitted.

Can I screenshot my ticket?

It is recommended that all tickets be transferred to the recipient ahead of time, as screenshots will not be accepted. Transferring is now easier than ever by only having to enter in a mobile phone number.

Can I have multiple tickets on one phone?

Yes, you may have all the tickets on one device. Although, you will have to scan all the tickets for each person upon arrival, so it is recommended you transfer the tickets to each attendee before arriving.

What if I don't have a smart phone?

All that is needed is for one person you are attending with to have a smartphone to scan in all of the tickets. If you do not attend with anyone who has a digital wallet, please visit the Hurricanes Ticket Office on the day of the ceremony.

What if my phone dies on the day of the ceremony?

If your phone dies on the day of the ceremony, please visit the Hurricanes Ticket Office at the main entrance of the Watsco Center. Please have your C# & photo ID ready.

Is there Wi-Fi at the venue to download the tickets?

No. Mobile tickets should be downloaded to an Apple or Android smartphone prior to attending the ceremony.

When will I receive my tickets?

Tickets will be delivered via email on Monday, October 21, 2024.

Who do I contact if I need assistance?

If I did not RSVP for the ceremony on CaneLink, can I still attend?

Those who miss the graduation application deadline WILL NOT be allowed to participate in the current commencement ceremonies, and will have to participate in the following commencement ceremonies.

Can a guest request tickets on their own?

No, only graduating students may submit their guest ticket request as part of their CaneLink graduation application.

Where do I get tickets for guests needing accessible seating?

Please contact the Office of Commencement via email at commencement@miami.edu to request special accommodations. Requests for individuals with a disability should be submitted at least two weeks prior to the event to allow for coordination.

Can I transfer my guest tickets to another student?

Yes, they can if they are attending as a guest.

Please secure a guest ticket from the student’s guest allotment of tickets to attend the ceremony as all guests are required to have a ticket to attend the commencement ceremony. 

Students who do not need all their allotment may donate any extra tickets at check-out. Donated tickets may not be reclaimed, and any extra tickets will be distributed closer to commencement. Following the last day to apply for graduation, these tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with each registered student having the opportunity to request up to two additional tickets.
