Miami Men's Basketball: Let's Work!

July 17, 2009

CORAL GABLES, FLA. – Although it’s summertime, current and former men’s basketball players from the University of Miami continue to work in the offseason to improve their skills.

Three former Hurricanes are currently competing in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas – Jack McClinton (San Antonio Spurs), Robert Hite (Cleveland Cavaliers) and Will Frisby (NBA D-League Select). Locally, 2009 graduate Brian Asbury has been participating in the Miami Heat’s summer camp and Lance Hurdle has been working out on his own while pursuing professional basketball.

Miami head coach Frank Haith, who is entering his sixth year at the helm, served as an assistant coach for USA Basketball, helping the men’s team to a bronze medal at the World University Games in Serbia this month.

Rising senior forward Dwayne Collins has also had a busy summer. In addition to working out for a pair of NBA teams, he spent two weeks training with former NBA coach John Lucas and has participated in the Lebron James Skills Academy and Amaré Stoudemire Basketball Camp.
