Blake Tekotte Named Muscle Milk Player of the Week

Coral Gables, FLA (www.hurricanesports.com) – Junior outfielder Blake Tekotte has been selected as the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete for period April 7-13.

Tekotte helped Miami to a 4-1 week and big series sweep at No. 10 Georgia Tech as the top-ranked Hurricanes improved to 15-1 in the ACC. Against the Yellow Jackets, he hit .600 (9-for-15) with seven runs scored, nine RBI and homered three times while slugging 1.333 and posting a .556 on-base percentage.

In the doubleheader Saturday, he went 7-for-10 with three home runs and eight RBI which included a career-best 4-for-4, four runs and seven RBI performance in game two of the doubleheader. Tekotte also totaled 12 bases in game two becoming the first Hurricane since Jim Burt Jr. in 2002 to accomplish the feat. He also homered twice (a 2-run HR and a 3-run HR) and added an RBI triple. He collected multiple hits in all three games of the series. On the week, he hit .417 slugged .875, owned a .429 on-base percentage and raised his stolen base total to 16 by swiping a pair of bases.

Tekotte has now hit safely in 19 of the last 20 games. He is hitting .390 on the season from his leadoff spot while posting 15 extra-base hits including six doubles, three triples and six home runs and 28 RBI. He owns a .506 on-base percentage.
