JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – Miami, the No. 5 seed in the 2006 Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Tournament, opens play against No. 4 seed Georgia Tech at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. It will be the fourth time in six days the two teams will meet, with the No. 7 Yellow Jackets (42-14 overall, 19-11 ACC) taking two-of-three games from the No. 19 Hurricanes (35-19, 17-13) last week in Atlanta.

All of Miami’s games can be heard on the Student Voice of UM, WVUM 90.5 FM and on UM’s flagship, WQAM 560 AM, or its sister station, WKAT 1360 AM, based on the Hurricanes’ game schedule. Wednesday’s game will be broadcasted on WKAT 1360 AM. Every game of the ACC Tournament will be shown via webcast on the tournament homepage, found on www.theacc.com.

The 2006 ACC Tournament field includes eight teams in the top 20 of the most-recent Boyd’s World RPI rankings and seven teams ranked in the most-recent USA Today/ESPN Coaches’ Poll Top 25. Miami posted a 9-12 record against teams in the ACC tourney but were 5-4 in games away from Mark Light Field.

UM will turn to the left arm of Scott Maine (10-2, 4.73 ERA) against Georgia Tech on Wednesday. Maine has won his last four decisions, and picked up wins against the Yellow Jackets last Thursday, No. 8 seed Wake Forest, No. 7 seed North Carolina State, and No. 6 seed Florida State this season. Lefty Manny Miguelez (6-4, 4.40 ERA) will take the mound against either No. 1 seed Clemson or Wake on Thursday.

Four Hurricanes garnered All-ACC honors from the conference’s coaches on Monday. Juniors, catcher Eddy Rodriguez and centerfielder Jon Jay were named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference First Team and reshman second baseman Jemile Weeks and junior reliever Chris Perez were named to the All-ACC Second Team.

MIAMI VS. THE ACC TOURNAMENT FIELD	Tidbits on the Hurricanes against the 2006 ACC Tournament teams:	•  The Hurricanes are 9-12 against the 2006  ACC Tournament field, but are 5-4 away from home in those games.	•  Tommy Giles leads the team with a .403, a .687 slugging percentage, eighth doubles and is tied with Jemile Weeks 	with 46 total bases in only 16 games against the seven other teams.	•  Jon Jay is hitting .333 but has a .500 on-base percentage against the tourney field and leads the teams with 19	walks, seven hit by pitches and is 14-of-17 in stolen bases.	•  All five of Richard O'Brien's home runs have come against the ACC Tournament field	•  Danny Valencia leads the team with 21 RBI and has a hit in has last 13 games against ACC Tourney teams.	•  Scott Maine is 4-2 in seven starts against the tournament field, despite owning a 7.54 ERA in those game.	•  Chris Perez has played a major role in two-thirds of Miami's wins against the tournament field, posting a 3-0 record	with three saves and a 1.77 ERA. He is holding those seven teams to a .155 average and has struck out 25 in 20.1	innings over 13 appearances.
