Tommy Giles is expected to make an immediate impact in the Hurricane lineup … could be the Hurricanes’ starting right fielder … worked hard in the fall and winter to put on weight and get faster … quick hands and gets the most out of his frame in his swing … athletic player who has a penchant for making the ball jump off his bat … played for the St. Cloud River Bats in the Northwoods League last summer, hitting .267 with 11 home runs, 11 stolen bases and 37 RBIs … Northwoods League All-Star and winner of the home run derby.

Central Florida CC
Played for head coach Marty Smith at Central Florida CC … Sophomore (2005): Fought through back and shoulder injuries to hit .252 with five home runs and 30 RBIs … was 5-4 with a 4.10 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 74 innings. Freshman (2004): Was an All-Mid-Florida Conference, MFC Player of the Year, All-State and second team All-America, as a freshman at CFCC … hit .371 with eight home runs and 52 RBIs … also pitched and was 9-3 with a 2.69 ERA with 71 Ks in 80 innings.
