Hurricanes Ranked No. 8 by Collegiate Baseball
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Miami Hurricanes baseball team checked in at No. 8 in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper’s annual preseason rankings released Tuesday, marking the highest preseason ranking of any ACC team in the poll.
Miami returns 15 letterwinners from a 2016 team that won a third straight ACC Coastal Division title, earned the second ACC Regular Season Championship in three years and qualified for the College World Series for the 25th time in program history.
The Hurricanes’ 2017 schedule includes series against preseason No. 3 Florida, No. 9 Florida State, No. 15 North Carolina, No. 16 Virginia, No. 31 NC State and No. 38 Georgia Tech, as well as three midweek games against No. 40 FAU.
The Hurricanes, who earned the No. 3 national seed entering last year’s postseason run, won 50 games for the second straight year and ended the season ranked No. 8 by Collegiate Baseball. Miami extended its own record by qualifying for the NCAA postseason for the 44th straight year; the Hurricanes have not missed the NCAA postseason since 1972.
Miami was ranked No. 4 in Collegiate Baseball’s preseason poll entering the 2016 season.
