Soccer to Face No. 8/5 UNC in Season Finale
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami soccer team will cap its 2015 season Saturday night at Cobb Stadium against No. 8/5 North Carolina.
Miami (5-11-0, 2-7-0 ACC) will recognize its five seniors before the 7 p.m. match. Ava Ambrose, Erin McGovern, Natalie Moik, Jasmine Paterson, and Amy Schmidt are set to be honored approximately eight minutes before kickoff.
The Hurricanes are 2-2 in their last four home meetings against the 21-time NCAA champion Tar Heels. Miami won 1-0 over seventh-ranked North Carolina in 2007 and 1-0 over the second-ranked Tar Heels, the eventual national champions, in 2009.
Miami has had seven of its last eight contests this season decided by one goal, with five of the past seven going to overtime. Just two of the Hurricanes’ nine ACC matches have been determined by greater than one goal.
After scoring four goals in Miami’s match at Boston College this past week, junior forward Gracie Lachowecki ranks third in the ACC in goals and points, with 12 and 25 respectively. Her nine goals and 18 points in conference play both lead the ACC.
North Carolina enters the regular season finale at 13-3-1 this season, including 6-3-0 in ACC play. The Tar Heels went 14-4-2 (9-0-1 ACC) in 2014, advancing to the Sweet 16 for the 33rd-straight year.
Saturday’s match will be broadcast live on ESPN3 HERE and live stats will also be available HERE.
