Miami XC Earns Top 10 Finishes at Disney
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The University of Miami cross country program had a strong performance at the18th Annual Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic presented by New Balance.
The Hurricane men placed third in the 8K with 89 points, while the women finished seventh in the 5K with 184 points.
Lindsi Arrington paced the women, finishing fourth with a time of 17:36.23. Senior Alaine Tate finished 14th with a time of 18:29.72. Arrington, who shattered her previous personal-best by 43 seconds, now owns the second-fastest 5K time in Miami history. Tate, who beat her personal-best by 45 seconds, moved into seventh place in Hurricanes’ history.
“I don’t have enough words to say about Lindsi and Alaine,” Miami distance coach Damon Griffiths said. “Besides leading the team today, they ran they second and seventh-best times in school history. I look forward to seeing how they translate their fitness into the conference meet.”
Taylor Votek (19.35.03) and Brooke Dovell 19:56.93) each finished inside the Top 50 of the 200-runner field.
JaCee Jarnagin was Miami’s top male, finishing 11th with a time of 25:45.83. Seniors Jonas Frenzel (26:11.64), Luke Fontaine (26:25.44) and junior Douglas Dourado (26:39.34) each placed in the Top 25 of the 152-runner field.
“We placed third overall today without having our best overall output for the group,” Griffiths said. “That shows me that we still have to improve on consistent efforts from meet to meet.”
