Golden Named CBS Sports ACC Coach of the Week
CORALGABLES, Fla. — Forhis team’s 41-32 victory over Boston College at Alumni Stadium, Al Golden hasbeen named CBSSports.com’s Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Week.
TheHurricanes, who found themselves trailing the Eagles 14-0 midway through thefirst, opened up a 41-9 scoring run with a one-yard touchdown plunge fromsophomore running back Eduardo Clements. After an interception of Boston College quarterback Chase Rettig was returned for a touchdown by sophomore linebackerDenzel Perryman, ACC Rookie of the Week Duke Johnsonsparked the Hurricanes with scoring runs of 54 and 56 yards in the game’smiddle stages. Freshman wide receiver Malcolm Lewis capped the Hurricanes’scoring efforts with an 18-yard touchdown grab from Stephen Morris with lessthan 10 minutes to play in the fourth quarter.
The41 points scored by the Hurricanes against Boston College were the most by aMiami team against an FBS school in a season-opener since scoring 48 againstLouisiana Tech in 2003.
