CORAL GABLES, FL — With attention in South Florida focused on HurricaneGeorges, the University of Miami held a two-hour workout in shells thismorning at Greentree Practice Field on the UM campus. The Hurricanesare moving forward with plans for Saturday’s 12:00 game vs. UCLA in theOrange Bowl.
As the region prepares for the possible arrival of Georges, the Universityhas canceled classes until Monday.
“We have been continuing with plans for Saturday’s game,” saidcoach Butch Davis. “We are trying to maintain focus and make sureeverybody is ready to play Saturday. This storm is a distraction.Players have family concerns that are on their minds. And it’s humannature that these concerns have affected focus during practice. Asa coaching staff we have to continue emphasizing to players that this isbeyond our control and get them ready to play football.”
