Coral Gables, FLA (www.hurricanesports.com) — – University of Miami freshman Takecia Jameson has been named Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of July 14-18, 2008.

Jameson won the 400-meter hurdles at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Poland, with a new 2008 world-best time of 56.29.

Jameson beat out competitors from seven different countries in the finals to win the gold medal. The Upper Marlboro, Md. native is the first UM student-athlete to win a Junior World Championship since Lauryn Williams won the gold in 2002 in the 100-meter dash.

In her first year as a Hurricane, Jameson earned All-American honors with a third-place finish at the NCAA National Championships in June.
