“First of all I’d like to congratulate Florida State on its season. Anyone who makes it to Omaha has had a good season. It was a normal Florida State-Miami game. It’s amazing how many end up being one-run games. For our guys it was a great team effort. It was a huge win for us. I’m very proud of our guys and how they hung in there.”

“It was huge. You have to give credit to Eric (Erickson) and our pitchers who did a great job in clutch situations. They out-hit us, but we got hits where they counted.”

“That was a display we’ve seen more than once this season, when guys keep battling and putting together excellent at-bats. The kind of team we were was on display in Buster’s last at-bat. That (at-bat) shows what he is all about – some guys would want to be the hero, but Buster put together a great at-bat and turned it over to the next guy, who had hit the ball hard all day. Jamile (Weeks) made a nice play to end the game. That inning was a credit to our young men.”

“It was tempting. I was looking for a pitch over the plate, something that I could drive. Once I got a strike on me I kind of changed my approach and brought my focus back to the strike zone.”
About the range of emotions he felt after his final collegiate game…
“I was disappointed, but at the same time it was a goal of mine to get here. Making it to Omaha is a great accomplishment. We didn’t get too many breaks here, but each guy fought until the last out.”
