CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) – Aaron Crow remained unbeaten and pitched a complete game three-hitter as Missouri defeated Mississippi 7-0 in the opening game of the Coral Gables Regional on Friday.
Crow (13-0) struck out 10 in his fourth complete game and fourth shutout of the season.
Trevor Coleman hit a three-run home run, and Aaron Senne and Jacob Priday each drove in two runs to lead Missouri (39-19). Ryan Lollis went 4-for-4.
The Tigers advanced to the winner’s bracket game Saturday at 4 p.m., where they will face Miami.
Crow held the Rebels hitless until Cody Overbeck’s two-out infield single in the fourth. Mississippi’s other hits were Zach Miller’s one-out single in the fifth and Jordan Henry’s leadoff single in the sixth.
Crow walked five but the Rebels failed to reach third base.
Mississippi (37-25), the Southeastern Conference tournament runner-up, will play Bethune-Cookman on Saturday at noon in the double-elimination regional.
Senne hit a two-run double in the fifth, increasing the Tigers’ lead to 3-0. Senne scored on Priday’s RBI single.
Coleman’s two-out homer off Rebels reliever Rory McKean in the seventh cleared the wall in right-center field and gave Missouri a 7-0 advantage.
The Tigers’ first three hitters reached base in the bottom of the first but managed only one run off Mississippi starter Lance Lynn. Priday’s fielder’s choice with the bases loaded scored Greg Folgia. Lynn (7-4) settled down and struck out seven through the next 4 2-3 innings until the Tigers’ three-run fifth. He pitched 6 1-3 innings and allowed six runs and nine hits.
