*** With the win, Miami improves to 39-17-1 and 2-0 in regional play.
*** Miami advances to Sunday’s championship game (1:00 p.m.) vs. the winnerof Saturday night’s Florida Atlantic-Florida International contest.
*** In 28 previous NCAA post-season appearances, Miami has never lost twogames in a row in a tournament’s final day.
*** RHP David Gil set a post-season high with ten strikeouts. His previoushigh was eight strikeouts.
*** With the complete game, Gil has tossed complete games in each of his pasttwo starts. On May, 12 at Jacksonville, Gil threw a complete game allowingtwo runs on five hits in a 9-2 win. The last UM pitcher to record completegames in consecutive starts was Joe Grahe in 1989 (5/27/89 vs. UCF inRegionals, 6/3/89 vs. LSU at CWS)
*** Gil hit a batter for the 16th time this season extending his UMsingle-season record.
*** With two home runs on Saturday, first baseman Lale Esquivel registeredhis third multi-home run game of this season. The homers were Esquivel’steam-best 19th and 20th of the season. The 20 home runs ties Phil Lane(1983) for seventh-place on the UM single-season chart.
*** Esquivel moved into third place on the UM career home runs chart with 40career homers passing Charles Johnson (38 HRs, 1990-92) and Randy Guerra (39HRs, 1976-79). Phil Lane (1982-84) holds the UM record with 62 career homeruns.
*** With a home run, right fielder Manny Crespo moved into a tie forfifth-place in the UM career home runs chart with 39 career HRs. Crespo tiesCharles Johnson (1990-92).
*** Second baseman Kris Clute registered two sacrifice bunts which ties a UMpost-season record. The feat had been accomplished four times.
*** Pinch runner Charlton Jimerson was caught stealing in the sixth inningsnapping a streak of 16 consecutive steals.

*** With the loss, Florida Atlantic falls to 43-18 and 1-1 in regional play.
*** Florida Atlantic next meets Florida International at 7:00 p.m. onSaturday. The winner of FAU-FIU meets Miami in tomorrow’s championship game.
*** Through two regional games, shortstop Tommy Murphy has led the Owlsoffensively going 5-9 with five RBI, a double, a home run and three runsscored.
