Bargfeldt, McKendry Named All-ACC Academic
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Junior Jeb Bargfeldt and freshman Evan McKendry were among those student-athletes named to the All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by the conference office Thursday.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career for undergraduate students.
Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
A criminology major from Owasso, Okla., Bargfeldt served as the team’s top starting pitcher and made 14 starts as a member of the weekend rotation. Bargfeldt, who compiled a 7-3 record with a team-best 2.20 ERA across 82.0 innings, was named to the All-ACC Second Team after the season. Bargfeldt topped the rotation in nearly every statistical category, including wins, starts, ERA, innings pitched and fewest earned runs allowed.
A finance major from Pembroke Pines, Fla., McKendry was impressive in his first season with the Hurricanes. The righthander made 18 appearances and seven starts in his first season, posting a 4-2 record and a 4.10 ERA in 63.2 innings. McKendry compiled 64 strikeouts, third-most on the team, and held opponents to a .236 average.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
