 CANES SHIPPING UP TO BOSTON

• The Miami Hurricanes will travel to Chestnut Hill, Mass., for an ACC weekend series with host Boston College from April 28-30 at Eddie Pellagrini Diamond at Shea Field (WVUM 90.5 FM).

• Miami has not traveled to Chestnut Hill since 2013, but faced the Eagles in the 2016 NCAA Coral Gables Super Regional, emerging victorious and clinching a College World Series berth for the 25th time in history. Miami won two of three in that Super Regional.

• The Hurricanes lead the all-time series 20-7, including a 5-3 mark in games played at Pellagrini Diamond.

• Junior LHP Jeb Bargfeldt (4-3, 2.32 ERA) will oppose Boston College’s Jacob Stevens (4-4, 4.70 ERA) in Friday’s series opener.

CANES SPLIT MIDWEEK PAIR WITH FIU

• The Hurricanes split a pair of midweek games with FIU this week, winning at FIU on April 25 (8-7) but falling at home April 26 (4-5).

• With the game tied 7-7 in the 9th, Miami plated the go-ahead run Tuesday night on a passed ball and held on for an 8-7 win. FIU scored two runs in the ninth Wednesday to come from behind, 5-4.

WEEKEND REWIND: UM, FSU EACH WIN ONE

• The Hurricanes split their annual rivalry series with visiting Florida State last weekend, dropping Game 1 (6-3) but winning Game 2 (5-4) in extra innings. Game 3 was cancelled due to bad weather.

• Miami took the lead in the series opener, but the Seminoles plated four runs in the fifth inning and held on for the victory.

• Junior Michael Burns hit a grand slam as Miami erased an early 3-0 deficit to take a 5-4 win in extra innings in Game 2 – aided by a walk-off throwing error by FSU shortstop Taylor Walls in the 10th.

HEATING UP: BATISTA, CABEZAS IMPRESSING

• Senior Randy Batista has been among Miami’s top offensive performers of late, and has reached base in his last 20 games. Over that stretch, he has a team-best .444 on-base percentage.

• Miami lefthander Jeb Bargfeldt has been the most consistent weekend starter for the Hurricanes. In seven ACC starts, Bargfeldt is 3-2 with a 2.21 ERA. He is holding ACC opponents to a .204 average.

• Sophomore Andrew Cabezas has been Miami’s top performer out of the bullpen this season. In the last 15 games, he has made nine appearances and totaled 21 strikeouts compared to four walks in 15.1 combined innings with a bullpen-best 1.17 ERA.

THREE-TIME DEFENDING COASTAL CHAMPS

• Miami won its third straight ACC Coastal Division title in 2016, posting a 21-7 record in ACC play to earn the division crown.

• The Hurricanes have won 67 ACC games in the prior three seasons – the most wins in a three-year stretch by any program since ACC expanded to a 30-game conference schedule in 2005.

• Miami has won the ACC Regular Season Championship three times, most recently in 2016 when the Canes finished 21-7; UM won the ACC regular season crown & ACC Tournament in 2008.

• Since the beginning of the 2014 season, Miami has won 27 of its past 37 ACC series. The Hurricanes went 8-2 in ACC series in 2014, 7-3 in 2015, 9-1 in 2016 and are 3-3-1 in 2017.
