Lachowecki Earns NSCAA Scholar All-Region Honors
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Gracie Lachowecki of the University of Miami soccer team has garnered yet another accolade for her spectacular play during the 2016 campaign.
The senior forward was announced Thursday as a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-South Region Second Team. She is the first player in program history to receive NSCAA Scholar All-Region distinction.
“It’s such a great honor to be recognized for academics. I’ve been in a unique situation with pursuing a nursing degree while playing soccer,” Lachowecki said. “It didn’t allow me to be on the field [at practice] with my teammates as much as I would have liked, but it’s nice to know that it paid off and allowed me to get what I needed done in the classroom. I have to thank my teammates and coaches for all they’ve done for me.”
Lachowecki finished her final season at Miami with 11 goals, three assists and 25 points. She led the Hurricanes and ranked third in the ACC in both goals per game (0.58) and points per game (1.32).
An Evansville, Ind., native, Lachowecki was a First Team All-ACC selection in 2016, as well as an NSCAA Second Team All-Southeast Region pick and a two-time ACC Offensive Player of the Week. She also won NSCAA College Player of the Week once.
Academically, Lachowecki has maintained a stellar 3.628 GPA throughout her collegiate career and has earned both Book Buster Club (minimum 3.0 GPA) and Athletic Director’s Honor Roll (min. 3.2) distinction every semester. She has made the Dean’s List (min. 3.5) in five of her first six semesters, despite being one of just five Miami student-athletes enrolled as a nursing major.
Lachowecki, a 2015 All-ACC Academic Team pick, finished her Miami career ranking third in program history in goals (24) and fourth in points (54).
