Miami Secures 3-0 Road Win at Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The University of Miami soccer team earned its second straight road victory Thursday evening, defeating Little Rock, 3-0, at Coleman Sports Complex. With the win, the Hurricanes improved to 2-1 on the season.

Miami controlled the opening half, outshooting Little Rock, 9-0, while allowing the Trojans no shots on goal. The Hurricanes broke through in the 22nd minute when freshman Zoie Fontenot found the back of the net for her second goal of the season, giving Miami a 1-0 advantage.

The Hurricanes quickly added to their advantage following halftime. Caroline Hood recorded her first goal of the season in the 48th minute, connecting off an assist from Crosby Nicholson to extend Miami’s lead to 2-0. Just over seven minutes later, Kambryl Armstrong found the back of the net for her second goal of the season, pushing the Hurricanes ahead, 3-0.

Atlee Olofson made one save before Aubrey Haesche entered in the 62nd minute and added a save of her own to preserve the shutout. Miami continued to limit Little Rock’s opportunities throughout the second half, allowing just two shots over the final 45 minutes.

The Hurricanes finished the match with a 16-2 advantage in shots and a 4-2 edge in shots on goal. Miami also earned eight corner kicks compared to just one for Little Rock. Fontenot, Hood and Armstrong each found the back of the net, while Nicholson recorded the lone assist of the match.

Miami returns to action Sunday, Aug. 23, as the Hurricanes travel to Nashville, Tenn., to take on Lipscomb. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. ET.
