Miami Soccer Blanks FAU, 3-0, for First Win of 2026

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The University of Miami soccer team earned its first victory of the 2026 campaign Sunday evening, defeating Florida Atlantic, 3-0, at FAU Soccer Stadium. The win moved the Hurricanes to 1-1 on the season.

Miami opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when freshman, Zoie Fontenot, found the back of the net for her first goal as a Cane, off an assist from Moira Flynn. The Hurricanes doubled their advantage just before halftime as Crosby Nicholson connected in the 43rd minute, with Allie Serlenga providing the assist, to send Miami into the break with a 2-0 lead.

The Hurricanes continued to generate opportunities, recording 10 shots in the second half compared to four for the Owls. Miami put the finishing touches on the victory in the 87th minute when Kambryl Armstrong scored her first collegiate goal to extend the lead to 3-0.

Miami closed out with a 14-10 advantage in shots, including a 7-3 edge in shots on goal. Fontenot, Nicholson and Armstrong each found the back of the net, while Flynn and Serlenga each tallied an assist.

Miami goalkeeper Atlee Olofson played all 90 minutes in net for the Hurricanes, making three saves to record her first clean sheet of the 2026 season.

Miami returns to action Thursday, Aug. 20, as the Hurricanes travel to Little Rock, Ark., to take on Little Rock. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
