Miami Soccer Falls 2-0 in Season Opener at Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of Miami soccer team opened its 2026 campaign on the road Wednesday evening, falling to Jacksonville, 2-0.

The Hurricanes controlled the offensive opportunities throughout the opening 45 minutes, outshooting the Dolphins, 9-4, while holding a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks. Miami placed two shots on goal, but both teams entered halftime scoreless.

Jacksonville broke through in the second half, scoring the opening goal in the 58th minute to take a 1-0 advantage. The Dolphins struck again in the 71st minute to double their lead and solidify the 2-0 victory.

Miami finished the contest with a 10-8 edge in shots and generated six corner kicks compared to just one for Jacksonville. The Hurricanes placed two shots on goal, while the Dolphins registered four.

Miami’s Atlee Olofson played all 90 minutes in goal for the Hurricanes, making two saves.

Miami returns to action Sunday, Aug. 16, as the Hurricanes travel to Boca Raton, Fla., to take on Florida Atlantic. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
