Bartow Earns Freshman All-America Recognition

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami reliever Frankie Bartow was among those players recognized with Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America honors, Collegiate Baseball Newspaper announced Wednesday.

Bartow, who has recorded a team-high 39 appearances out of the bullpen in 2016, has posted a 2.76 ERA and a 5-0 record. His five wins are the most of any relief pitcher, while his 49 innings are also tops amongst Miami relievers.

The Miami native, who has served as one of the team’s most reliable bullpen arms in his first season, has 27 strikeouts compared to just eight walks. Bartow was one of just 15 relief pitchers nationwide selected for the honor.

Bartow joins Michael Mediavilla (2015), Zack Collins (2014) and Bryan Garcia (2014), as current Hurricanes to earn the distinction from Louisville Slugger.
