Woodrey One of 10 Finalists for Senior CLASS Award

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Senior Thomas Woodrey was among the ten NCAA baseball student-athletes selected Tuesday as finalists for the Senior CLASS Award.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

As a double major in both finance and health sector management and policy in the Miami School of Business, Woodrey has made the Athletic Department’s Book Buster honor roll (3.0) six times, the Athletic Director’s honor roll (3.2) six times, the Dean’s List (3.5) twice and the Provost’s honor roll (3.75) once. He was also named to the 2014 ACC All-Academic Team.

Woodrey, a four-year contributor for the Hurricanes on the mound, has a career record of 19-5. He was a second-team All-ACC selection in 2015, when he recorded a 7-2 record, and a 2.88 ERA – the lowest among all starting pitchers. Woodrey helped lead the Hurricanes to the 24th College World Series berth in program history in 2015 as one of Miami’s weekend starters.

Finalists were chosen by national media from the list of 30 candidates announced in March. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner. Fans are encouraged to vote on the Senior CLASS Award website through June 7.

Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches’ votes to determine the winner. This year’s Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2016 College World Series® in June. For more information on all of the finalists, visit seniorCLASSaward.com.
