Soccer to Face North Florida at Cobb Stadium
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – After three-straight road matches, the University of Miami soccer team returns home this weekend to host North Florida Sunday afternoon.
The Hurricanes and Ospreys will square off at 1:00 p.m. at Cobb Stadium and in Miami’s sixth match in a row against a team from the Sunshine State. It will also be the Hurricanes’ last non-conference tilt of the season.
Miami (2-4-0) downed North Florida in an exhibition match in Jacksonville, Fla. last year, earning a 3-0 victory, as Grace Rapp scored two goals and Natalie Moik added another. This will be the first regular season meeting between the sides since a 4-1 home victory for the Hurricanes in 2006.
The Hurricanes have won each of their past two matches and done so with road shutouts both times. Miami earned a 2-0 victory at Jacksonville Sunday, Sept. 13 behind a pair of goals from senior forward Amy Schmidt, while outshooting the Dolphins 27-5 in the match. Junior midfielder Emily Auld scored in Miami’s 1-0 win Friday at FGCU, who went 17-4-0 and made the NCAA Championship last season.
North Florida enters the match at 1-5-0 and is coming off a 5-12-1 (3-3-1 A-Sun) campaign last season.
The contest between the Hurricanes and Ospreys will be the first of seven-consecutive Miami matches broadcast live on ESPN3 and can be seen HERE, while live stats will be available HERE.
