Grandal Named to 2015 MLB All-Star Game
LOS ANGELES – Former Miami Hurricanes standout and Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal was named to the first Major League Baseball All-Star Game of his career, as announced Monday by MLB.
Grandal, who is batting .271 as the team’s starting catcher, has hit 12 home runs with 31 RBI. The Havana, Cuba native is slugging .497 and has an OPS of .881 for the Dodgers, who are in first place in the National League West.
In December 2014 Grandal was traded to Los Angeles from the San Diego Padres, with whom he made his MLB debut. The former ACC Player of the Year has 36 career home runs and 125 career RBI over his four MLB seasons.
Grandal, a reserve catcher on the National League All-Star roster, will join his NL All-Star teammates at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio on Tuesday, July 14. The 2015 MLB All-Star Game, slated for broadcast on FOX, is set for 7 p.m. ET.
