Duke, DP to Represent The U at #ACCKickoff

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior RB Duke Johnson and senior LB Denzel Perryman will be represent the Miami Hurricanes at the 2014 ACC Football Kickoff held July 20-21 at the Grandover Resort.

Johnson, a second-team All-ACC performer in 2013, rushed for 920 yards and six TDs in eight games before suffering a season-ending ankle injury. The Miami native enters his junior season with 1,867 career rushing yards in 20 games. Last month, Johnson was named third-team Preseason All-America by Phil Steele and was one of 40 FBS running backs named to the 2014 CFPA Running Back Trophy Watch List.

A 2013 All-ACC First Team selection, Perryman started all 13 games at outside linebacker for the Hurricanes, registering a team-leading 108 total tackles including 69 solo stops. In addition to earning All-America honorable mention honors from SI.com, Perryman was the recipient of the Hurricanes 2013 Hard Hitter Award and Defensive MVP award. The Coral Gables senior is on the Bednarik Award and Nagurski Trophy Preseason Watch Lists.

In all, the ACC Kickoff student-athletes hail from 12 states with six from Florida; five from North Carolina; four from Georgia; two each from Illinois, Pennsylvania and Ohio; and one apiece from Alabama, Massachusetts, Maryland, Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia.

All 28 participants will be making their first appearance at the ACC Football Kickoff.

Among the offensive players in attendance will be three quarterbacks, four offensive linemen, three running backs, four wide receivers. Defensively, three defensive ends, one defensive tackle, four linebackers, five defensive backs and one bandit will be on hand.

A total of 13 of the 28 student-athletes were chosen first-, second- or third team All-ACC in 2013.
