Coley Adds Another Watch List to Resum?

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami Hurricanes sophomore Stacy Coley is one of 42 FBS linebackers selected to the 2014 CFPA Wide Receiver Trophy Watch List.

“Congratulations to Miami’s Stacy Coley on earning a spot on the 2014 CFPA Watch List,” said CFPA Executive Director Brad Smith. “Coley demonstrated explosive abilities during his freshman season at Miami.”

Coley was named to the 2014 Paul Hornung Award and Maxwell Award Watch Lists earlier this week. As a freshman in 2013, Coley, a third-team All-ACC selection by the league’s coaches and honorable mention by ACSMA, led the Hurricanes with 1,461 all-purpose yards – the 10th-highest single-season total in program history. He also led the team with seven receiving touchdowns, while ranking second in receiving yards (591) and third in receptions (33). A Freshman All-America selection by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), Coley was the only FBS player in 2013 to record a TD four different ways – rushing, receiving, punt return and kick return.

Coley is the fifth Miami player named to a 2014 CFPA Watch List, following Duke Johnson (RB), Anthony Chickillo (DL), Denzel Perryman (LB), and Ladarius Gunter (DB).

Miami’s Leonard Hankerson won the 2010 CFPA Wide Receiver of the Year Award and Pat O’Donnell won the 2013 CFPA Punter of the Year Award.

About College Football Performance Awards
The goal of College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. As prominent scholars from a wide variety of disciplines note, CFPA eliminates the politics and biases that vitiate balloting-based awards. Furthermore, CFPA has received praise from both Republican and Democratic White House officials for promoting objectivity and fairness in college football.

CFPA is now in its seventh season of player and team performance recognition. Twenty-eight CFPA winners have been first-round NFL Draft selections.
