Perryman, Johnson Named Athlon All-Americans
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami Hurricanes senior LB Denzel Perryman and junior RB Duke Johnson were named to the 2014 All-America Team by Athlon Sports. Both first-team Preseason All-ACC selections last week, Johnson was named to the All-America third team, while Perryman was named to the fourth team.
Earlier this month, the duo picked up All-America honors from Phil Steele – Johnson was named a first-team All-American, while Perryman was named to the third team.
A second-team All-ACC performer in 2013, Johnson rushed for 920 yards and six TDs in eight games before suffering a season-ending ankle injury. The Miami native enters his junior season with 1,867 career rushing yards in 20 games. As a rookie in 2012, Johnson was named first-team Freshman All-America as a kick returner by Steele.
Perryman, a first-team All-ACC selection and All-America honorable mention (SI.com), led the Hurricanes with 108 tackles in 13 games at outside linebacker. In 34 games, Perryman has 241 career tackles and 17.5 tackles for loss.
