Storylines
• After a midweek win over Bethune-Cookman, the Miami Hurricanes will continue on their five-game homestand Friday when visiting Clemson arrives for the first of a three-game set at The Light. First pitch for Friday’s opener is set for 7 p.m.
• Despite their 8-10 record in Atlantic Coast Conference play, the Hurricanes are ranked No. 14 in the newest WarrenNolan.com Rating Percentage Index (RPI), while the team’s 2013 schedule is currently ranked the third-toughest in the nation.
• In addition to its own impressive RPI rank, the Hurricanes have six wins against teams rated in the top 20 RPI and 12 wins against teams ranked in the top 50 RPI – both important factors in postseason projections and consideration.
• The Hurricanes will once again look to their weekend rotation of Chris Diaz, Bryan Radziewski and Andrew Suarez to lead the way against the Tigers. All three starters rank in the top 20 in the Atlantic Coast Conference in ERA during conference play.
• Miami is 4-1 in its past five games, paced offensively over the span by David Thompson (five hits, one homerun, five RBI’s) and captain Chantz Mack (seven hits, two runs, five walks, three steals). Mack is riding a season-best five-game hitting streak.
• Two coaching legends will meet once again at The Light, as Miami head coach Jim Morris and Clemson skipper Jack Leggett will manage from opposite dugouts. The two have combined for over 2,500 wins in their illustrious history as Division I managers.
