Commemorative Shirts to Benefit Wizard Fund

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Commemorative shirts recognizingformer Hurricanes baseball coach Ron Fraser, who guided the program to twonational championships and over 1,200 wins in his prolific 30-year tenure, arenow on sale through allCanes to benefit the University of Miami’s “Ron FraserWizard Fund”.

$10 from every shirt will go towards the fund, establishedto build a bronze statue of Fraser to be placed at Alex Rodriguez Park at MarkLight Field. Shirts can be purchased atallCanes, located at 5831 Ponce de Leon Boulevard in Coral Gables.

Fraser coached the Hurricanes for 30 years from 1963-92. Whilenever posting a losing season, his teams won 1,271 games and captured the 1982and 1985 national titles. More than a hundred of Fraser’s ballplayers went onto professional baseball and many more started successful careers.

The University of Miami honored Fraser with a “Celebrationof Life” ceremony held at the Knight Sports Complex on Sat., Feb. 23. Allproceeds from the Hurricanes’ game that night, dubbed the “Remembering RonFraser Game,” went towards the fund.
