Four Tabbed to Phil Steele All-ACC Squad

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Four University of Miami Hurricanes football players were named to Phil Steele‘s 2012 All-ACC Team.

Freshman Duke Johnson was a first-team selection as a kick returner and a second-team pick as a running back. Sophomore WR Phillip Dorsett, junior OL Brandon Linder and sophomore LB Denzel Perryman were named to the third team.

Johnson was also named to hil Steele‘s Freshman All-America first team as a kick returner and second team as a running back. Earlier this week, Johnson was named second-team Freshman All-America by CollegeFootballNews.com.

A second-team Walter Camp All-America, Johnson was the ACC Rookie of the Year after posting one of the greatest freshman seasons in Miami history. The Miami, Fla., native amassed 2,060 all-purpose yards and 13 touchdowns and rushed for a UM freshman-record 947 yards. The freshman triple-threat back was named the ACC Rookie of the Week a league-best five times. He was also named third-team All-America as an all-purpose runner by CBSSports.com.

Dorsett led the Hurricanes with 842 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 58 catches and ranked second on the team with 21 plays of 25+ yards. He posted seven receptions of 40+ yards, including two TDs of 60+ yards.

Linder, an honorable mention All-ACC selection by ACSMA and league coaches, started all 12 games at right guard. He anchored an offensive line that paved the way for the ACC’s third-best passing offense (295.4) and fifth-best total offense (440.2).

Perryman played in nine games, making six starts at linebacker, en route to honorable mention All-ACC honors from ACSMA and league coaches. He finished second on the team with 64 total tackles and led with 45 solo stops, while adding 6.0 tackles-for-loss.
