CORAL GABLES, FL – The University of Miami football team continued withtwo-a-day workouts today at the Greentree Practice Field in Coral Gables.The Hurricanes used both practices to fine tune for tomorrow’s Orange Bowlscrimmage, working out in pads during the morning and shells in the afternoon.

“We would like to scrimmage about 90 plays tomorrow,” said head coachButch Davis. “We’d like each unit to get between 24-30 plays so wecan make some serious evaluations and changes wherever possible. We’realso going to scrimmage several kicking game situations.”

For the second day, the Hurricane defense dominated the morning practicemaking several big plays and delivering punishing tackles.

“The defense continues to be the dominating force in practice,” saidDavis. “I am very pleased with the progress they are making.The defense has the mental attitude of getting the job done and they’redoing just that. The defense is out there hustling in every drill and makingtremendous strides.

Saturday’s Orange Bowl scrimmage will be part of CanesFest. Gatesto CanesFest open at 9 a.m., with the scrimmage slated for 10:00.Fans are encourage to arrive early and enjoy Touchdown Alley’s interactivegames and family style entertainment, in addition to purchasing seasontickets and selecting seat locations. An autograph session featuringHurricane players and coaches will follow the scrimmage.

Injury Report: Santana Moss sustained a small crack in his jawduring yesterday’s practice after a helmet-jarring hit from defensive backNick Ward. Moss did not practice today and will be withheld fromcontact for at least 10 days. Defensive end Derrick Ham was limitedwith a sprained ankle, while cornerback Nate Brooks was sidelined witha stomach virus. Freshmen linebackers LaVaar Scott and Chris Campbell arequestionable for tomorrow. Scott suffered a bruised right leg duringthe morning practice and Campbell bruised his left shoulder.
