CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 51 University of Miami men’s tennis team will travel north to take on Boston College on Fri., March 30. The match will begin at 6 p.m.
Miami (8-6, 1-4) is looking to earn its second straight ACC win after defeating Wake Forest this past Sunday. The Hurricanes were able to rebound to defeat the Demon Deacons 4-3 after a loss to NC State on Friday.
Victor Mauz won the clinching match against Wake Forest as he defeated Alex Tsai in a third set tiebreaker 6-4, 2-6 and 7-6 (1). Omar Aly, Henrique Tsukamoto and Diego Soto earned the other three points for the Canes as they won in singles play from the No. 2, 4 and 5 positions, respectively.
Mark Schanerman and Marco Stancati also won on Sunday as they paired up to earn the Canes lone doubles win against Wake Forest’s Sam Wells and Conner Sherwood.
Boston College (4-10, 0-7) enters the match against the Hurricanes on a five-match losing streak. They hope to have a better showing against Miami as they have lost all seven ACC matches with the closest being a 5-2 loss to the No. 64 ranked Clemson Tigers.
The Eagles are led by the No. 36 ranked doubles pair of Akash Muppidi and Alex Skinner. The pair has lost their last two matches including a loss to the No. 7 ranked pair of Kevin King and Juan Spir from Georgia Tech.
Following Friday’s match, the Hurricanes will travel to College Park, Md. to take on the Maryland Terrapins on Sun., April 1 at 12 p.m. The team will return home on Fri., April 6 to host No. 24 North Carolina at 2 p.m.
