STREAK CONTINUES
The University of Miami’s impressive streak of former players scoring touchdowns in the NFL continued this past weekend as Greg Olsen, Clinton Portis, Andre Johnson, Devin Hester, Reggie Wayne and Frank Gore all scored touchdowns in Week Two of the NFL season. At least one former `Cane has now scored a touchdown every NFL week since Week 15 of the 2002 season – a span of 124 straight weeks.

Here are some of the top performances by Hurricanes from Week 2 of the NFL season:

Frank Gore – San Francisco 49ers RB
– Scored two touchdowns and had 112 yards rushing and 56 receiving on MNF
Andre Johnson – Houston Texans WR
– Had one of the league’s best performances, catching 12 balls for 158 yards and a TD
Jonathan Vilma – New Orleans Saints LB
– Recorded a combined 10 tackles (7 UA, 3 A) and a forced fumble in win over the 49ers
Reggie Wayne – Indianapolis Colts WR
– Had another strong week with seven catches for 96 yards and a touchdown
Rocky McIntosh – Washington Redskins LB
– Recorded 14 combined tackles (5 UA, 9 A) is loss to Houston
Santana Moss – Washington Redskins WR
– Caught a team-best 10 balls for 89 yards in an overtime loss to the Texans
Ray Lewis – Baltimore Ravens LB
– Finished with 10 combined tackles (6 UA, 4 A) and a sack against the Bengals
Clinton Portis – Washington Redskins RB
– Had just 33 yards rushing but scored two touchdowns for the Redskins
Jon Beason – Carolina Panthers LB
– Recorded nine combined tackles (6 UA, 3 A) in a losing effort
Devin Hester – Chicago Bears WR
– Had four catches for 77 yards and a touchdown in road win at Dallas
Antrel Rolle – New York Giants FS
– Tallied eight combined tackles (7 UA, 1 A) in loss at Indianapolis
Kellen Winslow – Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE
– Had a game-high four catches for 83 yards in road win over the Panther
Eric Winston, Chris Myers, Rashad Butler – Houston Texans OL
– Trio of `Canes blocked for Matt Shaub’s 497-yard passing day in win at Washington
Sam Shields – Green Bay Packers CB
– Had two solo tackles and played well in the secondary in win over Buffalo
Greg Olsen – Chicago Bears TE
– One of five `Canes to score a Week 2 TD, catching a 39-yard TD pass in win over Dallas

– As of Sept. 21, nine former `Canes rank in the Top 100 in receiving yards this season in the NFL.
– Miami has two of the league’s Top 5 most productive receivers thus far – Reggie Wayne of the Colts and Andre Johnson of the Texans.
– Wayne ranks third in the league with 195 yards in two games, while Johnson ranks fourth with 191.
