Shenise Johnson named Muscle Milk Student-Athletes of the Week

Shenise Johnson led the University of Miami women’s basketball team to consecutive wins in the WNIT this past week, has been named the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, March 22. Against Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday, the sophomore scored a game-high 20 points and dished out seven assists. On Sunday against the University of Florida, Johnson was just two assists shy of a triple-double as she scored 19 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dealt out eight assists. The double-double was the ninth of the season for the First Team All-ACC performer. Johnson also extended her double-figure scoring streak to 33 straight games, the longest active streak in the ACC. The Henrietta, N.Y. native is just 22 points shy of becoming the 20th woman in program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. The 2009-10 Hurricanes became the first team in program history to win two postseason games in the same year, and the 19 wins that UM has racked up are the most under Katie Meier in her five-year tenure and the most for the program since going 22-7 in 2003-04. |
