Jan. 28, 2010

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The 2010 University of Miami baseball team made its annual visit to the Howard Palmetto Baseball Association’s Opening Day Clinic over the weekend at Suniland Park in Pinecrest. UM student-athletes conducted instruction sessions with hundreds of kids, while head coach Jim Morris spoke to all the teams present about the importance of succeeding both on the playing field and in the classroom.

The event – which lasted approximately four hours on Saturday morning – kicked off the Howard Palmetto spring baseball and softball seasons.

In addition to the UM baseball team, both Sebastian the Ibis and the Miami Maniac were in attendance.

Miami opens its 2010 season at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field on Friday, Feb. 19 against Rutgers. For ticket information for the 2009 season, call 1-800-GO-CANES or visit www.hurricanesports.com.
