Krista Simkins Named Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Coral Gables, FL (www.hurricanesports.com) — – Junior women’s track and field performer Krista Simkins has been named the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the period March 10-16.

Simkins won the NCAA Indoor 400 meter dash on Saturday, March 15 at the University of Arkansas in a time of 52.16 seconds. In doing so, she became the sixth Hurricane to win a national title in track, the last being Tabia Charles who won the triple jump in 2006.

Simkins, who ran a school record 51.95 in the preliminaries, won the 200 and 400 meter events at the ACC Indoor Meet two weeks ago. At the NCAA event, she was also a member of the Hurricanes 4×400 relay team that finished ninth.
