CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) – Logan Power hit a go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning as Mississippi stayed alive in an elimination game against Missouri with a 9-6 victory in the Coral Gables Regional.

Scott Bittle (7-1) picked up the victory striking out a career-high 12 batters in 4 1/3 innings in relief. Mississippi (39-25) will play Miami at 4 p.m. in another elimination game. They will need to beat the top national seed twice to advance to the Super Regionals next weekend.

Trailing 5-4, Missouri (39-21) scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to take the lead on RBI singles by Dan Pietroburgo and Steve Gray off of Bittle. Missouri reliever Kyle Gibson (9-4) loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning after walking back-to-back batters setting the stage for Power.

Power drilled the 1-0 pitch off the left-field scoreboard for his ninth home run of the season and second grand slam of the season. He also hit one on March 5 against Arkansas State.

Gibson took both losses for Missouri in the regional. Missouri led 4-0 scoring four runs in the fifth inning including a two-run single by Ryan Lollis. Mississippi responded in the bottom of the inning scoring four runs of their own. Kyle Overbeck tied the game at 4-4 with an RBI single. Overbeck hit an RBI single in the seventh for a 5-4 edge. Mississippi starter Brett Bukvich did not allow a hit until the fifth inning as he pitched 4 2/3 innings allowing four runs while striking out six. Missouri starter Ian Berger allowed four runs and seven hits in four innings.
