Erickson Earns Preseason NCBWA All-America Honors

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – – University of Miami sophomore left-handed pitcher Eric Erickson has been named a preseason All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writer’s Association. Erickson was also named to the preseason watch list for the Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award late last week.

Erickson is coming off a good freshman campaign in 2007, when he was selected first team All-Atlantic Coast Conference after going 10-4 with a 2.50 ERA. He had 63 strikeouts in 90 innings pitched. Opponents hit .243 against him. He went 6-2 with a 1.93 ERA in ACC games. He also earned Freshman All-America honors from Baseball America and Louisville Slugger.

He was selected preseason NCBWA third team as a starting pitcher. There are six ACC players on the three teams.

Miami opens its 2008 regular season Feb. 22-24 when the Hurricanes host Cincinnati for a three-game series at Mark Light Field.
