Jay And Perez Help USA Baseball National Team To 3-1 Win

TORRINGTON, Conn. – University of Miami baseball players Jon Jay and Chris Perez made key contributions in the USA Baseball National Team’s 3-1 win in its first game against the Torrington Twisters of the Northeast Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL).

Jay sparked a three-run first inning with a single to left-center to score Shane Robinson (Florida State) from second base. Sean Doolittle (Virginia) drove in Jay for what proved to be the game-winning run later in the inning.

Perez struck out the side in the ninth inning to pick up the save.

Team USA returns to action Sunday night against the Keene Swamp Bats of the NECBL at Alumni Field in Keene, N.H.
