Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The NCAA announced today the pairings for the 2005 NCAA Baseball Regional at Coral Gables hosted by the University of Miami, June 3-6, 2005 at Mark Light Field.

The top-seeded Miami Hurricanes (38-17-1) will open against fourth seeded Virginia Commonwealth (33-20) on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Virginia Commonwealth earned an automatic bid as the Colonial tournament champion. Second-seeded Mississippi State (40-20) will face third-seeded Florida Atlantic (36-22) in the regional opener on Friday at 3:00 p.m.

Miami is hosting its 21st NCAA Regional and is making its NCAA-record 33rd consecutive NCAA regional appearance. The Hurricanes have advanced to the College World Series 17 of the 20 years they have hosted a regional and holds a 70-11 (.864) record in regional play at Mark Light Field.

The Hurricanes have won a NCAA-record 11 consecutive regional titles dating back to head coach Jim Morris’ first season in Coral Gables in 1994.

The University of Miami and the ticket office are closed for Memorial Day but normal ticket office hours will resume on Tuesday, May 31. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Call 284-CANES or 1-800-GO-CANES.

All-tournament packages are $45 for general admission and $35 for youths 17 and under and seniors 55 and over. Single day passes for Friday, Saturday and Sunday are $15 for adults and $10 for youths and seniors. If necessary, tickets for Monday’s game are $10 for adults and $8 for youths and seniors.
