CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – Miami starter Brandon Camardese picked up the win in the final regular-season start of his career at Mark Light Field, holding Jacksonville to two runs and three hits in a 15-2 win Saturday night. Camardese struck out seven and walked one to improve to 6-0 and run the fourth-ranked `Canes record to 35-11-1 overall. Jacksonville dropped to 21-28 overall.

The Miami offense provided plenty of support, tying a season high with 19 hits. Eddy Rodriguez went 4-for-5 with a home run with three runs and two RBIs and Danny Robitaille had three hits and a run batted in. Paco Figueroa was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Ryan Braun homered and scored two runs.

The Dolphins were held hitless until Sean McHugh led off the third with a soft double down the right field line. Justin Young hit a one-out single up the middle that scored McHugh and gave the Dolphins a 1-0 lead.

JU starter Neal Frontz (6-5) was charged with the loss and pitched four and one-third innings and gave up 10 hits and seven earned runs with a walk and two strikeouts.

Miami answered in its half of the third, hitting for the cycle as a team and scoring five runs. Robitaille doubled to left-center to score Rodriguez from second base to tie the game at 1-1. Danny Figueroa bunted safely down the third-base line to put runners at the corners with one out and Paco Figueroa followed with a two-run triple to right field. Braun homered deep to left field on the next pitch to put the score at 5-1.

Pete Clifford cut into the Miami lead with a solo home run to lead off the fifth inning.

Jon Jay’s opposite-field single to left field in the fifth scored Braun from second to put the score at 6-2. Danny Valencia ripped a double off the very top of the wall in left to score Jay and end Frontz’s night. Rodriguez hit his second home run of the series two batters later for a 9-2 lead.

Roger Tomas pinch-hit for Braun in the sixth and slapped a single to left field to score Robitaille from third. Patrick Feeney pinch-ran for Paco Figueroa and scored on Brett Nagy’s wild pitch. Jay doubled to the gap in left-center to score Tomas and put the Hurricanes ahead, 12-2. Valencia and Garabedian added RBI singles and Robitaille reached on an error to score Valencia for a 15-2 lead at the end of six.

Miami and Jacksonville play in the series finale at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mark Light Field.

Notes: Hurricane seniors Vince Bongiovanni, Camardese, Paco Figueroa, Brendan Katin, Dan Touchet and junior Danny Figueroa were recognized before the game for their contributions as players… Robitaille’s double in the third was the first extra-base hit of his career… Miami hit for the cycle as a team in an inning for the first time since March 21, 2004 vs. the University of Illinois-Chicago… Braun’s home run was his 15th of the season and the 42nd of his career, tying him for fourth on Miami’s all-time home run list with Danny Matienzo (2000-02) and his two RBIs moved him into a tie with Frank Dominguez (1985-88) on the all-time RBI list with 186 for his career… Paco Figueroa’s third-inning triple was the 23rd for the Hurricanes this season, the most since the team had 23 in 1997… Braun tied a career high with his 21st stolen base of the season in the fifth inning.
