Singletary got Maryland off to a quick start with a double down the left field line. Truan Mehl followed with a RBI single for a 1-0 lead. The Terrapins loaded the bases with two outs, but Camardese was able to work his way out of the situation and retired Matt Maropis, looking, on a 3-2 pitch.

Jon Jay laid a sacrifice bunt to advance both runners and reached base when Jordan Wilson dropped the throw from Bowen at first for a bases-loaded situation with no outs. Miami and Maryland conclude their series with a 1 p.m. tilt Sunday at Mark Light Field.

Notes: Miami hit three sacrifices in an inning (first) for the first time in program history… It took 40 minutes to complete the first inning… Braun’s fourth-inning home run was the 40th of his career, tying him with Lale Esquivel (1997, ’99-2000) for fifth on Miami’s all-time list… Danny Figueroa set Miami’s all-time hit-by-pitch record in the fifth inning when Ryan Moorer plunked him for the 33rd time in his career.
