Post Game Quotes

University of Miami Head Coach Jim Morris
“Needless to say, this was a great win for us. Both guys pitched a tremendous game. It was good defense with some outstanding pitching and some timely hitting. We were fortunate to beat the Gators – an outstanding club.”
“Cesar pitched the best game I’ve seen him pitch since he’s been here. Giannotti had that big two-run homer – the game-winning hit. It was a great effort by our team and it’s just super to be going back to Omaha.”
“I’ve always gotten the jitters before a big game like this. This is great because our club has fought through a lot of adversity this year – a lot of injuries. It’s a treat to see how they’ve come together, how everything has come together with our coaching staff.”
“Omaha is such a great place to go. It’s something we talk about from day one. It’s something our players and coaches work very hard on. Our coaching staff has done a great job to get everyone ready.”
“In the first inning I was so pumped up and couldn’t get the ball down and they happened to get a run but after that I settled down.”
“I felt like I was in the zone. I was trying to get people out and miss the barrel of the bat.”
On pitching in the ninth inning…
“My adrenaline was high – I felt like it was the first inning. I wanted the chance to take us to Omaha.”
“We’ve played great all year and to put ourselves in this position and we are really excited.”
“I’m still looking ahead. We aren’t happy yet – we have to win a National Championship.”
On his home run in the fifth inning…
“That was a pretty big one. I remember last year in the regional I had one against Florida, so I am a little confident playing them right now. They have a great team and Connor Falkenbach is a great pitcher. He didn’t give up much all day, but I was fortunate to get myself in a hitter’s count. It was 3-1 and all I was thinking about was driving something because at that point in the game it was really slow and flat and the innings were flying by and we weren’t really getting anything done. It was just a situation where I was sitting back waiting for something to drop.”
Florida Head Coach Pat McMahon
“Obviously this is a difficult loss for our ball club. I want you to know how proud we are of our ball club and how much we battled. I think that typlifies the character of this team and how they represent this institution in a first class manner.”
“You have to give the University of Miami an awful lot of credit. They played very well. They were opportunistic and I want to wish them the very best in Omaha. But that doesn’t take away from exactly how hard our young men played.”
On Miami starter Cesar Carrillo…
“I thought he pitched very well. He located all his pitches. He threw his off-speed stuff in the zone. He pitched outstanding. He’s got a plus arm. He really competed and he turned the dialed up at some key time when he really needed to.”
On Florida Starter Connor Faulkenbach…
“I thought our kid Connor Faulkenbach was outstanding. He has pitched in so many roles for us and I can’t tell you enough how much he means to our club. We wouldn’t be in the situation we are in with out the great performances. I’m very proud of him.”
On the University of Miami…
“Obviously I think they are a very talented ball club. They are well prepared and well schooled and they pitch very well. I think they are an outstanding ball club in every way and I think they have shown that.”
Connor Faulkenbach
On the fifth inning home run to Richard Giannotti…
“I got behind on the count on him and he got a good swing on the ball and hit it out of the park. I left it up a little bit but the main thing was I got behind on the count.”
Ben Harrison
On Cesar Carrillo…
“He has a good arm and he located his pitches. After the first inning I didn’t think we would only score one run off him but you have to tip your hat to him.”
