CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – Brandon Camardese and George Huguet combined for a one-hit shutout of Penn State to complete the double header sweep at Mark Light Field Saturday night, 1-0.

Camardese was masterful through seven innings allowing only a single to catcher Matt Harter in the fourth inning. He improved to 3-0 on the season with his three strikeout performance.

Huguet came on in the eighth inning and pitched two perfect innings to earn his sixth save of the season and the 37th of his Hurricanes’ career. With the save, Huguet ties former UM great Rick Raether (1984-86) for Miami’s all-time saves record.

The game-winning hit came from Gaby Sanchez in the second inning with two outs and a runner on second base. Burt had walked to lead off the inning and stole second base to get into scoring position. After Brian Barton popped up and Ryan Braun had struck out, Sanchez drilled a single between the third baseman and shortstop to score Burt.

The win improves Miami to 21-5 on the season, while Penn State falls to 8-8. The UM pitching staff held the Nittany Lions to just four hits during the double header.

The Hurricanes’ pitching staff never allowed a runner past second base and recorded six 1-2-3 innings.

Paco Figueroa and Brian Barton led Miami’s six-hit attack with two hits each. Jon Jay added a double to go along with Sanchez’s game-winning single in the second.

Aaron Tressler took the loss for the Nittany Lions pitching six innings and allowing only one run on four UM hits. He stuck out six and walked three.

The Penn State and Miami conclude their three-game series on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Mark Light Field .
