Florida Marlins President David Samson to Speak at 2004 "First Pitch" Banquet

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The World Series Champion Florida Marlins’ President David Samson will replace George Steinbrenner as the featured speaker at the University of Miami’s 2004 “First Pitch” Banquet on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004.
Samson was named the President of the Marlins on Feb. 12, 2002, at the age of 34. Since that time, he has played a critical role in the development of the organization, including the Marlins’ World Series title this past season.
Steinbrenner had originally agreed to speak at the banquet, but because of personal reasons was unable to do so.
Samson will headline the event that will be held at the Marriott Biscayne Bay, 1633 North Bayshore Drive. The reception and silent auction starts at 6 p.m. with the dinner and program beginning at 7 p.m.
The cost is $75 for UM baseball season ticket holders and Hurricane Club members. The cost is $100 dollars for everyone else. The advanced registration deadline is Friday, Jan. 23.
