Hurricanes Knock Off Osaka Buffaloes, 11-4

VERO BEACH, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) — The University of Miami baseball team beat the Osaka Buffaloes of the Japanese Pacific League, 11-4, Saturday afternoon in an exhibition game at Hollman Field in the Dodgertown Complex.
UM exploded for four home runs in the game with Paco Figueroa, junior college-transfer Brendan Katin, Jim Burt and Brian Barton connecting. Figueroa hit a two-run home run, Katin delivered a three-run shot, while, Barton connected for a solo home run.
The Hurricanes will take Sunday, Nov. 16, off before beginning their final week of fall practice, which culminates with UM’s annual Scout Day on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 10:30 a.m. Scout Day is open to the public and features a nine-inning intrasquad game.
All of Miami’s fall practices are open to the public.
Miami opens the 2004 regular season on Friday, Feb. 13, with a three-game series against the Florida Gators at Mark Light Field. Prior to that, the Hurricanes will welcome back former players for the annual Alumni Game on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m.
