Football Practice Report - Thursday, September 4
Sept. 4, 2003
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami football team held one final practice in shorts and shoulder pads on Thursday in preparation for this Saturday’s upcoming game with No. 18 Florida.
The Hurricanes went through a two-hour workout, fine-tuning for the Gators.
The Miami coaching staff will start sophomore offensive lineman Rashad Butler in the place of Carlos Joseph who is coming off an ankle injury and is questionable for Saturday.
“Butler will start,” Head Coach Larry Coker said. “Carlos will be available.”
Coach Coker expects a strong performance from the Hurricane wide receiver corps on Saturday. The play of senior wide out Kevin Beard has caught the eye of the coaching staff this week in practice.
“Kevin has had a great week, I have really been impressed with him this week. I told him today that he looked better today than he has looked in four years. I have also been impressed with Roscoe Parrish and Ryan Moore as well. Sinorice Moss is another one you can’t take your eyes off. They all have done an outstanding job.”
The Hurricanes will take on intra-state rival Florida on Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Orange Bowl. For ticket information please call 1-800-GO-CANES.
